jrobie79
Looking to buy a 1998+ seville sts, found a good looking one for a good price, 65K miles, the owner says it overheats and still does it after he changed the radiator and the thermostat. Is this a common problem? Any known solutions or speculations on the solution. Thanks
BodybyFisher
Check the purge line for a clog, by taking the purge line off the coolant tank and look for coolant flow at idle, no coolant flow, it is clogged and needs clearing Smell the coolant tank, if it smells like exhaust fumes you have a head gasket problem Check the cap, to make sure it holds proper pressure Make sure the coolant is at least a 50 percent concentration Check the water pump belt for slipping, cracking Pressure test the cooling system Have the coolant tested for combustion by products Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
