Looking to buy a 1998+ seville sts, found a good looking one for a good price, 65K miles, the owner says it overheats and still does it after he changed the radiator and the thermostat. Is this a common problem? Any known solutions or speculations on the solution. Thanks

Check the purge line for a clog, by taking the purge line off the coolant tank and look for coolant flow at idle, no coolant flow, it is clogged and needs clearing

Smell the coolant tank, if it smells like exhaust fumes you have a head gasket problem

Check the cap, to make sure it holds proper pressure

Make sure the coolant is at least a 50 percent concentration

Check the water pump belt for slipping, cracking

Pressure test the cooling system

Have the coolant tested for combustion by products
