There was a time, say, 40 years ago, that the name Cadillac was synonymous with excellence. Then General Motors engaged in one of the most remarkable orgies of brand vandalism in history, making a series of decisions for the Cadillac division that were so bad that it is hard to think what someone who was deliberately trying to ruin the brand would have done differently. About a decade or so ago, something changed. Cadillac styling took on a distinctive look, the quality of assembly and engineering improved, the division even went racing and, well, the Cad came back. Perhaps the key car in Cadillac's revival has been the CTS mid-size sedan. Introduced as a 2003 model, the styling of the CTS was bold and different -- not, perhaps, to everyone's taste, but the new Cadillacs stood out from the competition. The sedan was revamped in 2008 and the line expanded to include a Sport Wagon for 2010 and a coupe for 2011.
