Bruce Nunnally
GM Inside News http://www.gminsidenews.com/forums/f70/gmi-exclusive-gm-twin-turbo-v6-coming-90244/ is reporting that GM is well under way on development of a twin-turbo variant of the 3L LF1 engine, designated LF3. The LF1 makes 270hp at 7000rpm, and speculation for the new TT3 is that it might make 340-390 hp. At 9 psi one might expect it to make 45% more than the normally aspirated 3L, so the 390 hp. On the other hand, if it scales from the Jay Leno 3.6L TT show car which made 425 hp, then it would make 3/3.6 x 425 = 354 hp. The Ford 3.5L Turbo they would like to compare favorably to makes 355 hp and 350 lb ft of torque Bruce 2023 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing Follow me on: Twitter Instagram Youtube
Bruce Nunnally
On the LLT 3.6L that silver shield to the right/below the oil filter container is the exhaust manifold shield On the LF1 3L, the exhausts are all channeled into a single outlet, coming out that square opening below the dip stick: so it is tailor-made already for turbo charging, since you want that manifold setup to feed a forward positioned turbo? Twin-turbo may be dual-scrolling, such as the new BMW turbo engines? Regardless, bolt a turbo on right there on the single exhaust manifold and you will eliminate turbo lag, and gain high low-end torque.
