Bruce Nunnally
To determine pricey new-car options, we configured new vehicles from 10 luxury automakers: Audi, BMW, Cadillac, Hummer, Infiniti, Jaguar, Land Rover, Lexus, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche. For each automaker, we listed the vehicle with the most expensive package or option available. We did not evaluate separate trim levels or items labeled as accessories. Upgrades aren't just about aesthetics (although the $4,245, 22" 8-spoke chrome wheels on a Cadillac Escalade will definitely get you noticed). Robert Deutsch, a cognitive anthropologist who founded the Boston-based consulting firm Brain Sells, says some wealthy consumers drive expensive vehicles because they like having the latest technology--it reflects and improves upon their own identity. "A lot of these people, they like to extend the form with a lot of gadgetry," Deutsch says. Luxury cars "offer all kinds of options and new kinds of gadgets, and I think that's an attraction to these people." http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/stor...09?s_name=Autos Bruce 2023 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing Follow me on: Twitter Instagram Youtube
