RRDrerup
2001 STS w/ 93,000 miles will not stay in 4th gear. Under extreme light load, it will shift and stay in 4th. Upon any type of resistence, it will default to 3rd gear and stay in 3rd gear. Code is DTC P0734. Two shops are telling me it's the fluid pressure and the lower control body plate is likely warped. $2,000 and up for repairs. Any options here other than delegating the car to city driving?? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Russ

Thanks, Russ P0734 - Incorrect 4th Gear Ratio A total rebuild would cost $2200 or so, I find it hard to believe that the lower control body plate could be warped given the number of bolts that hold the control body in place. What happens in 4th is it slipping, does your RPM rise? RRDrerup
It will shift into 4th if I'm going down hill or let out of the gas, but the second it feels resistence, it goes back into 3rd and stays there until I decend another hill. RPMs do not act like it's slipping. I'm sure it's 3rd gear.
