ero1220
I generally leave the outside temperature display on my dash monitor.. yesterday I was going through the dry cycle of my local car wash and curiously watched the temperature suddenly begin dropping dramatically all the way to - 37 deg F and it remained there after exiting the car wash. I drove around for a short period expecting it to rise: nothing. I shut everything down, restarted, and the temperature began climbing again rapidly as normal - but it stopped at positive 48 deg F. It was approximately 67 degrees outside. Today was a slightly warmer day, but the car was registering 50 deg F. I am unable to utilize climate control functions in the car, if I request 71 degree air, it blasts heat. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Any diagnosis or perhaps reasons why this may have occured when it did (under the high velocity blowers)? Any troubleshooting pointers? Thanks in advance! BodybyFisher
The outside temp sensor is located in the front of the radiator/AC condenser behind the grill, since it messed up when water contacted it, you might check its connections, but it may need replacing, I don't think, that the outside temp sensor has any impact on the AC efficiency however, someone who knows the AC system may know Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
JimD
The outside ambient air temperature sensor is indeed one of the signal inputs for HVAC temperature control. Try drying the sensor connector(s) and if that does not change your results, purchase a new OEM temperature sensor from a Cadillac dealer. Jim Drive your car. Use your cell phone. CHOOSE ONE ! ero1220
I checked the outside ambient air sensor, as I previously didn't even know where it was located (thanks guys!) and it had curiously unplugged itself. Thinking the dryers literally blew it out, or just finished the job of undoing a loose connection. Plugged it back in and all seems well. Thanks to both of you.
