tonypuka
Gentlemen, Thank's for having me. Issue: I have a 2000 DeVille,Northstar V8 with 97400 miles on it. I drive the car for @ 4-6 miles , and the temp gauge starts to go above the half way point. After 2 bars above the half way point I start to get the chimes and warning messages, like Engine Coolant Hot, Idle Engine , Turn Off AC, and Engine Hot. I have yet to see/find a coolant leak. I must have one because I have been adding DexCool to the surge tank. Status: I had the Co2 test done on in the surge tank by 2 different wrench heads. However, I told them that I thought I had a blown headgasket. Sure enuff, both service shops said I did have the Co2 fumes in the coolant. Action:Is there any other tests, checks,or troubleshooting I can perform to see if it may be something else causing this. I have taken the cap of the surge tank , and eventually,it did blast out. Will there be bubbles in the coolant when engine is cold? I just trying to check everything I can before chucking someone $3000.00.. great engine when its working, tough to work on. Car drives like nothing else , and I feel good when driving it. Its my first Caddie, and Im disappointed that something this major could happen to such a prestigeous name
BodybyFisher
If you trust these shops, and they found combustion by-products you have a head gasket problem.
