GM studying Saab, Saturn, Pontiac

Recommended Posts

Bloomberg

As part of the plan to Congress from GM on how to help the Automakers, GM is studying again whether to prune some brands.

Saab, Saturn, and Pontiac are on the block.

Pontiac was originally created in 1926 as the 'companion car' for GM's Oakland marque, much as Lasalle was the companion car for Cadillac.

Pontiac eventually replaced Oakland altogether in GM.

Saturn was created in 1985 largely in response to the success of Japanese & German small-car imports in the United States, such as Nissan, Toyota, and Volkswagen. Wikipedia

Saab began as an aircraft company in 1937. Saab automobiles was bought by GM in 1990.
