mike33
Can someone tell me where the PCV valve is located on my 1998 Eldo? Also, part #? Has anybody replaced one of these on the Northstar? I have never seen it mentioned that I recall on this board. Thanks in advance.
Ranger
The PCV valve is a black 1 1/2"-2" diameter can with a plug on top. It is located behind (firewall side) the throttle body and just forward and inboard of the master cylinder. When you find it, it will be very evident how to remove it. Only 2 bolts. Why are you replacing it? Usually all it needs is to be cleaned. Just use carb cleaner and a toothbrush and be sure when done that the pintle moves freely. Also when cleaning it, hold it up right (the way it is mounted) so as not to let the carb cleaner run down into the can. I am told it will destroy the windings. Ben
Hey Larry, that is the EGR Valve. PCV is on rear valve cover, passenger side. Little metal valve just pulls out. Takes about 10 seconds to change. Not sure PN#, but you can get them anywhere, about $3.
Randy_W
I think Larry was thinking of the EGR valave, but he gives good advice on cleaning it, might as well do it while you're there!
