Ethanol Producer Magazine

The National Governors Association announced Oct. 15 the formation of partnerships between General Motors Corp. and 10 U.S. states to enhance access to E85.

Under the new public-private partnerships, GM will provide technical assistance to Alabama, Florida, Idaho, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, Tennessee and Wisconsin to help the states determine new locations for E85 stations. The partnership will also try to optimize E85 supply by working with ethanol producers, and using its network of dealers, plants and offices to promote E85 usage.

States will establish an E85 task force that includes state officials, retailers and automobile manufacturers to help target specific areas for E85 fueling stations. The team will also identify funding sources to support pump installation or conversion and assist with implementing the recommendations.
