clarksls
I was wondering if the sts "9" heads would work on a sls"y" ? would the computer need to be changed, timing, cam gears, sensors or anything else? the reason I am asking is because I pulled the heads on my sls for head gaskets, and took them in to be checked and found some valves not seating properly and to have both rebuilt is $700. found some sts heads already done for $480 with shipping. thanks
BodybyFisher
They heads SHOULD be identical, the difference is the CAMS, if you used the heads and all parts from your SLS, you should be ok. Make sure they are from the same engine years that are compatible, bolt holes for accessories can be different.. BodybyFisher
$480 sounds outrageous. You can get an engine for $1200-$1500. Don't let them tell you that the STS heads are superior in any way, you don't need any parts from them other than the casting Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
clarksls
The sts heads I found were a differant casting number so I had mine redone and it cost me $600 to have both heads done with NO new parts. To bad for me being in northern michigan had no other options.
