Bruce Nunnally
Carscoop says A minor glitch with the automatic transmission is the cause for the recall of 17,301 MY2004 Cadillac SRX crossovers. NHSTA reports that an unknown number of these vehicles have a condition in which the transmission shift lever can be moved from the "park" position with the ignition "on" and without the operator depressing the brake pedal or, in some cases, the shifter can be moved from the "park" position with the ignition turned off The NHSTA data base search says: Make : CADILLAC Model : SRX Year : 2004 Manufacturer : GENERAL MOTORS CORP. Mfr's Report Date : OCT 08, 2008 NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number : 08V527000 N/A NHTSA Action Number: N/A Component: POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION Potential Number Of Units Affected : 17301 Document search says check back tomorrow as they upload docs overnight. One would assume since this just bubbled up your Dealer won't have much info yet, but 04 SRX owners will get a post card in the mail in the near future to bring the SRX in for an upgrade. I would have thought these and the CTS used the same parts for a PRNDL switch for example, but perhaps the parts that are giving the issue were only used on the SRX.
