momejian
Hi everyone.... My 1998 Deville 4.6 Northstar finally gave out. Headgasket is gone. A friend of the family offered his Northstar from a 1993 Seville STS with 130000 km. The 2 engines look identical to me except for the top plastic covers with the Caddy emblem. Would this be a possible swap or is there a non-visible difference..??? any info would be highly appreciated. Mike M.
BodybyFisher
Forget it, you need a 96 through 99. The 93 is very different in terms of its intake and controls, and it is OBD1 whereas the 98 you have is OBD2.. very different. Also keep in mind that there is a 9 and Y engine, if you have a standard Deville you need the 275 HP version, NOT the 300 HP version The Concours, STS and ETC have the 300 hp version, you cant use that engine Pre-1995 - DTC codes OBD1 >> 1996 and newer - DTC codes OBD2 >> https://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/gm/obd_codes.htm How to check for codes Caddyinfo How To Technical Archive >> http://www.caddyinfo.com/wordpress/cadillac-how-to-faq/ Cadillac History & Specifications Year by Year http://www.motorera.com/cadillac/index.htm
