coolj940
Car was running rich, I figured it was o2, had it diagnosed, They said it was Bank 1 Sensor 3 o2 Sensor Just confused because they said bank 1..... Doe that mean its the one in the manifold on the Bank 1 side or does it mean it's sensor 3 which is by the cat? PS: this is a 97 STS please help, thank you
JimD
Bank one, sensor three would be the oxygen sensor located directly behind the catalytic converter. What was the trouble code (DTC) reported? wotmode
What make you think it was running rich? A catalyst monitoring O2 sensor(position three) only checks to see if the catalytic converter is working, not control air/fuel ratio.
Cadillac Jim
That's the one that easiest to reach. I would get another mechanic, one that understand DFI. I would start by reading the car's trouble codes myself. Here's how: http://www.caddyinfo.com/readingcodes.html -- Click Here for CaddyInfo page on "How To" Read Your OBD Codes-- Click Here for my personal page to download my OBD code list as an Excel file, plus other Cadillac data -- See my CaddyInfo car blogs: 2011 CTS-V, 1997 ETC Yes, I was Jims_97_ETC before I changed cars.
