Dasher
I understand the orange envelope but can't find one with a black dot in it in the log. Thanks. By the way, has "Lurker" been changed to "Observer"?
Bruce Nunnally
The dot on the envelope means that you have posted within that topic. Yes, Lurker was changed a bit -- there is a pinned topic under the Admin section for changes to the board, which notes: Titles 1/28/2004 Added the Title "Observer (3-9 posts)" to the titles list. Edited "Lurker" to be someone with 1-2 posts. Note that in this context, Lurker (see the jargon dictionary http://www.netmeg.net/jargon) defines lurker as: One of the 'silent majority' in an electronic forum; one who posts occasionally or not at all but is known to read the group's postings regularly. This term is not perjorative, and indeed is casually used reflexively: "Oh, I'm just lurking." When a lurker speaks for the first time, this is called "Delurking".
