Bruce Nunnally Posted October 8, 2007 Report Share Posted October 8, 2007 Saab has announced that their new small SUV, the Saab 9-4X, will be built in the GM plant in Ramos, Mexico. The new SUVs are believed to be a mix of the epsilon (midsize FWD) and theta (mid-size crossover) platforms. The resulting crossover will be smaller than an SRX, and perhaps competitive with the Lexus RX350. The BRX is planned to seat 5. The current SRX has a wheelbase of 116 inches and an overall length of 194.9 inches. The SRX can seat 7. A Lexus RX350 has a wheelbase of 106.9 inches and an overall length of 186.2 inches. The RX350 can seat 5. The Acura MDX has a wheelbase of 108.3 inches and an overall length of 190.7 inches. The MDX can seat 7. The BMW X5 is similar in size and weight to the SRX. The smaller BMX X3 is 180 inches in overall length on a 110-inch wheelbase. The Ramos, Mexico Plant opened in 1981 and currently makes the Pontiac Aztek, Chevrolet Cavalier, Chevrolet Chevy, Pontiac Sunfire, Buick Rendezvous. In 2004 the President of Mexico Vicente Fox recognized GMM Ramos Arizpe and Silao facilities with the Environmental Excellence Award for their achievements and GMM's commitment to the environment.
