Bruce Nunnally
http://www.motortrend.com/future/spied_veh...vette_zr1_spied The ZR1 will first appear in January 2008 at the Detroit auto show, with the production version set to go on sale later next year as a 2009 model. GM has been developing the car for several years, using a supercharged version of the new 6.2-liter small-block V-8 used in the 2008 Corvette, which reportedly will be called the LS9. The blown 6.2 also looks like the engine that will power the next Cadillac CTS-v, rather than something based off of GM's new high-feature overhead cam V-8 debuting in '09. Bruce Nunnally
http://jalopnik.com/cars/new-cars/2009-cad...ts+v-305315.php New spy shots from Jalopnik and Brenda Piddy Company. The new engine is the 6.2L Supercharged V8, a low-hp version of the next Z06 LS9 6.2LS/C. It will make 500+hp, according to this article likely 515-525hp, although up to 550hp. Automatic and manual versions will be available, with paddle shifters for the automatic. Pics look like a 08CTS test mule; the wheels are 5-bolts instead of 6-bolt as on the current CTS-Vs, but it does have the mesh grills. Jalopnik says it had wider tires and a larger exhaust than the stock CTS. Bruce Nunnally
http://www.leftlanenews.com/a-detailed-loo...otor-plans.html LSA The LSA will find its way under the hood of the 2009 Cadillac CTS-V. The LSA is a 6.2-liter, smallblock V8 with a supercharger. It features an intercooler integrated into the intake manifold. Preliminary specs have it over 500 horsepower with a choice of manual or automatic transmissions. The CTS-V will start production in September of 2008 with this motor. Look for around 6000 to 8000 units annually. Original plans also had the LSA going into an Escalade V-series truck. However justifying the development cost — not to mention CAFE considerations — might put possibility of such a truck in jeporady. At present, it is unclear whether the Escalade-V a truck is still part of the plan. LS8 This is another 6.2-liter, smallblock V8 with a supercharger. It also features an intercooler integrated into the intake manifold. This will be the motor going into the top-end Zeta platform cars. [like the new DTS?] The most premium Camaro, probably called Z28, will get this motor. That said, original plans had this motor going into a Denali SUV or truck, however, those plans now seem to be canceled. Again, this maybe a result of CAFE. Some of Holden's vehicles may also get this motor eventually. Initial specs have this motor at 475 to 500 horsepower with a choice of manual or automatic transmissions. Bruce Nunnally
Motor Trend 11/9/2007: "The front camo does a reasonable job of concealing the hood bulge that accommodates the Corvette ZR1's 600-some horsepower supercharged 6.2-liter V-8's blower (for the CTS-V, the engine may be detuned to somewhere around 580 horsepower)" Note: apparently the Corvette ZR1 model will sport 620hp +-a few, so that leaves plenty of room for "de-tuning" for the CTS-V variant. Bruce Nunnally
http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/secret_new_ca...1329&page=1 More pics of the 09 CTS-V. Article suggests a 515hp 7L LS7, but most current guesses are for a 6.2L supercharged V8. This article also suggests that all CTS-V's will be AWD; that would be an interesting solution to how to get the car off the line quickest.
