Bruce Nunnally
By Liz Rob?s post last week about the testing in the mud triggered a memory. When we?re doing a long ride trip on public roads, sometimes things happen that we did not plan for. And, well, sometimes we just plain make a mistake. In Nevada, we simply made a wrong turn. I think there was a construction detour or something that through us off. In any event, we ended up with a long stretch of dirt-road driving that was completely unplanned. But it ended up being beneficial ? giving us a feel for these kinds of driving characteristics and (unintentionally) giving us a more comprehensive evaluation. In particular, we had such a big group of cars kicking up a ton of dirt and dust that it provided a really rough test for the air intake systems and HVAC.
