chriscisme Posted April 7, 2007 Report Share Posted April 7, 2007 i was replacing the starter and alrady have the intake mainfold off and everything and the guy wsho is replacing it sid there was a coupl of banged up teeth on he flywheel, i was wondering how much this would interfere with hte strting and if its a tough job to replace it, with the intake mainfold already off and everything, thanks Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
JimD Posted April 7, 2007 Report Share Posted April 7, 2007 The engine and transmission have to be split to even start to get to the flexplate (flywheel). If you have not had a problem with the starter failing to engage the flexplate, I would not worry about it. But - what was your starter not doing to cause you to replace it? Jim Drive your car. wontgoslo Posted April 7, 2007 Report Share Posted April 7, 2007 Just shooting an idea out there , have a good welder fill in the damaged teeth , then file them down to clean them up. I hear the tranny is a beach to remove . Or just leave it alone til your tranny needs replacing . Then it has to be done . Maybe someone can jump in with a better idea.
