Marika
Bump keys have been around for a long time, but now, it's been publicized widely on the Internet and there are even videos you can watch that will show you how it's done. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WexoP5ZDWgg...ted&search= Medeco, the high security lock company, has long built locks that are pickproof and bump proof. http://www.medeco.com http://www.medeco.com/about/whats_new/pr/bump.html Protect your family and home. If you are using a standard lock such as Yale, Schlage or Kwikset, get rid of it and purchase a high security lock such as a Medeco. The investment you make in a Medeco lock could end up saving you a loss due to burglary that could reach into the thousands of dollars. Well worth the investment, I think. If you really want to make people safe drivers again then simply remove all the safety features from cars. No more seat belts, ABS brakes, traction control, air bags or stability control. No more anything. You'll see how quickly people will slow down and once again learn to drive like "normal" humans.
Regis
Marika, This looks like a 19th Hole topic but I could be wrong. I've read several articles regarding bump keys and recently one of our local news stations aired a piece about them as well. They had a couple seasoned lock smiths attempt a break in on several locks (different brands). Only one lock could be bumped and it took about 20 minutes. The point being made was that there is a lot of hype and misinformation about bump keys and what locks they are effective on. They work reasonably well on older locks but have a very low success rate on most newer locks. According to the news from back in August, 2006, this is a lot more common than you think. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14157179/site/newsweek/ and once it's out there, it's only a matter of time.... The Fred
It is best to have a live person at home all of the time. When I am wealthy again and I have more valuables in the home I will always be sure one or more of my housegirls are at home at all times. I don't plan on having dumb ones either- they'll be "armed and dangerous" Especially the Southern one MerryChristmas Be a Capitalist or work for one. Work for a Capitalist or be one.
