Stan S Posted March 7, 2006 Report Share Posted March 7, 2006 On my 99 Concours when the tank level drops below 1/2 the the gauge gives erratic readings. It may drop down to near empty or go all the way to full. Above 1/2 it's okay. Any ideas? I have a service manual but it's not much help. Not showing any codes related to the problem. stsjoe Posted March 7, 2006 Report Share Posted March 7, 2006 Sounds like your sending unit is shorting out when the float gets to that level(mine does it at 1/4) check your manual and see if you can access the fuel pump(and sending unit) through the trunk or if you have to drop the tank Joe Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
jhall Posted March 7, 2006 Report Share Posted March 7, 2006 Sounds like a classic case of a bad fuel level sensor. If you do this yourself, make sure the tank is as close to empty as possible.
