BManning
My check engine light is on (probably because of PCM code: P056) This code denotes a transmission input speed sensor problem. Will a transmission service fix this problem? Am I going to have to replace something? And if so, does anyone know how? Thanks
PAUL T
Is the P056 Constant? This sensor is deep in the transmission and requires the transmission to be dropped at the tune of about $1000-1500 possibly. It is suseptable to electronic interference. A spark plug wire too close to the wiring harness or a high powered radio signal will cause the code. If it is intermittent I would check the wiring going into the tranny and leave it alone. It will cause harsh shifting at worst. Mine has been intermittent for about 4 years or 75,000 miles. Unless you plan on doing other tranny work or pulling the engine I would not worry about it.
