Ranger Posted April 18, 2005 Report Share Posted April 18, 2005 Per the '97 service manual, it sounds like either the EVAP purge solenoid has failed or there is a vacuum leak. First check the vacuum hose from the purge solenoid to the charcoal canister to be sure it is connected and has no leaks. If that checks out OK then check the electrical connection at the solenoid. If that is good, you may need to replace the purge solenoid. It should be located on the rear cam cover on the drivers side. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
