DADDYMACK BURNS Posted August 31, 2010 Report Share Posted August 31, 2010 I get a knock or tick comming from my engine at start up in the morning, go two blocks and it the knock stops, can someone tell me what causes this? Only 54k miles on car, and can anyone explain in detail how to do Wot on a car to rid cold carbon rap. I been told it may stop the knock realy a tick. Ranger Posted September 1, 2010 Report Share Posted September 1, 2010 Sounds like piston slap aka cold carbon rap. The WOT procedure is easy (and fun). Just put it in 2nd gear and nail it. Hold your foot to the floor until you reach 70-75 MPH. Then release it and let it back down to 50 or so. All this traffic permitting of coarse. If you see any carbon behind you, do it again.
