chazzy
How you doing. I was recently told I need a front door window regulator for the left door window of my 1999 cadillac deville. According to the serv. tech. I'm looking at about $600.00-$700.00 for parts and labor. Can I buy one myself and where can I go to buy one and what is involved in installing it. Help me please!!!!!! I could do without if it cost to much Thanks
Ranger
Yes you can buy one at most any parts store or dealer. Infact I think you may even be able to use a Chevy, Buick or Olds regulator (probably less money). Can't remember the cost as it's been a while but I want to say $100 or less. As I recall it was riveted in so you will have to drill out the rivets. I was lucky when I did mine because my neighbor was a Ford mechanic at the time and he brought home their rivet tool to reinstal it. It was a BIG tool about the size of hedge shears but I see no reason why you can't use screws and nuts to reinstal it. I would loctite the threads and maybe even double nut them to avoid having them loosen up through door slamming. Other than that it is pretty basic door panel removal. KenD
You can also try a wrecker, sorry, I mean recycled auto parts store. I picked up mine there for $35.00. There are interchangable with other GM luxury cars like Larry said. Any yes, you have to drill out the rivets. 1994 STS Pearl White 260,000 KM (163,000 miles) <img src="http://img45.photobucket.com/albums/v137/caesar/caddycaesar.jpg" border="0" class="linked-sig-image" />
