jkypes
hey guys im new to the forum. i actually just bought my caddy today and i love it. its a 1993 sts. i have a few questions though. 1. my lower grill piece looks like the things that hook the grill into the air dam ( bottom of car, below big grill) are busted, i would imagine that the pieces from the air dam curve to hold onto the grill. now the bottom of the air dam just sags and looks really bad. any suggestions for how to fix it? 2. the inside tail lights, ( ones with reverse in them) have water in them, and now one doesnt work. also, only half of that top strip of lights along the trunk works. any ideas on how to fix? thanks for your help guys, this site has already helped me out a ton! jason
KenD
Try some epoxy for the grill. I had the same problem and I just epoxied them back so that it didn't sag. I had a slight hairline crack in my tail light where I was getting condensation and I used some crazy glue in the crack to solve the problem. As for the 3rd light bar, you'll have to get it fixed. Logan Diagnostics fixes these for a very reasonable price or you can pay through the nose at the dealer. Good luck. 1994 STS Pearl White 260,000 KM (163,000 miles) <img src="http://img45.photobucket.com/albums/v137/caesar/caddycaesar.jpg" border="0" class="linked-sig-image" />
Ranger
I would think since it doesn't show you could just drill some holes and use sheet metal screws with some washers to hold it up. For the trunk light strip see Logan. http://www.logandiagnostic.com/ For the tail light fix. http://www.caddyinfo.com/taillight.htm
Dasher
I had the same problem with my 93 and I bought some black plastic cable ties. I then drilled a hole the size of the cable ties and ran one cable tie down through the hole and then used another cable tie like a nut. I then adjusted the length and took off the excess. It worked easy and lasted until I traded the car at 193k miles. I told the body shop at the dealer's about it and they used it too. Beats hell out of replacing that whole grill and bumper cover that was $1,500 when I inquired about it several years ago.
Cupillac
I bought some black plastic cable ties. Quite possibly the greatest thing since duct tape. I believe many mechanic's love them too. jkypes
one other question now that i know how to fix my tail lights. the lady that had it before me never got the water out of one of the lights, so its got some rusty water inside and looks kinda dirty. any way to fix it, or should i just buy new ones? thanks! jason
Dasher
Regarding the tail lights, VERY CAREFULLY drill some small holes in the bottom of the lenses (there's a groove just behind the fascia as I remember). This will drain the water and, in most cases, keep them from fogging up. This is a better solution to replacing the lenses - those babies are costly!
