airedalet
2001 dts with 144k in miles. Suddenly no air through vents but air comes through floor and defrost. When engine is started I hear a clicking sound for awile then it stops. Any suggestions. Had a mechanic look at it but he said that whole dash needed pulled and that would be expensive. Looking for alternatives.
Ranger
There are no alternatives. It's a bad mode door actuator.
JimD
One alternative would be to display any possible Diagnostic Trouble Codes. Here is how to do that: http://www.caddyinfo.com/readingcodes.html None of the HVAC air door actuators require the "whole dash to be removed" for door actuator repair or replacement. If your "mechanic" is not willing or qualified to do a systematic diagnosis, I suggest you consider doing the diagnosis yourself before you start throwing money at the situation. Jim Drive your car.
