GOOB
JUST CAME BACK FROM A LONG TRIP AND HAVE A FEW CONCERNS/QUESTIONS ON SOME THINGS THAT I NOTICED: -A FEW TIMES, AFTER SHUTTING THE CAR OFF, THERE WAS A "KNOCK" FROM THE DASH. SOUNDED LIKE A DOOR WAS TRYING TO CLOSE BUT WAS GETTING STUCK. AFTER A FEW SECONDS IT WOULD STOP. -SOMETIMES WHEN I SHUT THE A/C OFF, AIR CONTINUES TO BLOW THROUGH THE VENTS. -A FEW TIMES AFTER RUNNING THE A/C FOR AWHILE AND THEN TURNING IT OFF, I GOT A MESSAGE THAT THE A/C COMPRESSOR WAS OVERHEATED AND WOULD NOT TURN BACK ON. THIS ONE WASN'T MUCH FUN WHEN IT STARTED TO RAIN AND THE WINDOWS (NOT TO MENTION ME AND MY WIFE) GOT ALL STEAMED UP. *I SACRIFICED MY BACK SEATS JUST TO GET SOME AIR CIRCULATING IN THE CAR UNTIL WE COULD FIND A PLACE TO STOP.*
Ranger
"SOMETIMES WHEN I SHUT THE A/C OFF, AIR CONTINUES TO BLOW THROUGH THE VENTS". That is "afterblow". Your BCM is probably programmed to run the fan after shutdown to dry out the condensation and prevent mold growth. It can be programmed not to do it if you don't want/need it. It is helpful in very humid climates. Do a search for AFTERBLOW on the old board for more info.
