jinxed45
I'm just at 110k on my 1997 Eldorado ETC. Rough idle is getting worse.. will a simple tune up fix that?
Scotty
This is a difficult question to answer here as there are so many things that can cause a rough idle. Obviously if the engine has never been tuned up in 110,000 miles that would be a good place to start, but it could be something as simple as a bad ignition wire, or a leaky FPR. Do you know what work has been done to date? Mike
Phillip
Depending upon the maintenance history, you will probably want to replace the basics right up front. New plugs, fuel filter and air filter are a good start. If that doesn't do it you might try the plug wires. I wouldn't waste a lot of time or money on diagnostics until you are certain these are in good condition, since they are the most likely culprits. The fuel pressure regulator is another easy check. Just look in the archives. After you have exhausted all these, and assuming you have no codes, the diagnostic fun begins.
