JasonA
Cooling fans on my 95 SLS not comming on. Car seems to be running a little hot @220 degrees 220 is just fine for your car. The cooling fans have two speeds (controlled by three relays underneath the radiator). The low speed isn't even triggered until the coolant temperature reaches 229*F. High speed is somewhere near 240*F I believe. 220*F is just barely warmed up! You want to see at least 212*F on a normal basis to burn off residual moisture in the oil from cold starts. Remember this car does not have a conventional mechanical fan, so if you are not running your A/C (and you're probably not during the winter), the fans may NEVER come on for weeks at a time. If you have the A/C manually turned off, or if the ambient temperature stays in the 30s, the fans do NOT turn on unless the coolant temp. approaches 230*F as mentioned above. No worries -- your car's running fine! Jason(2001 STS, White Diamond) "When you turn your car on...does it return the favor?"
