CANADIANCADDY
Hi there The "Service Engine Soon" light came on tonight while driving my 1994 STS home from work. Checked the OBC and the only current code that showed up was a PO85. Could you tell me what this means and if it would trigger the "Service Engine Soon" message? Many thanks, Paul PS Any info as to whether I need to deal with this issue right away would be appreciated as we are about to take a fairly long trip up north and I don't want to end up stranded with the wife in the cold. Ranger
P085 (E085) ........................................... Idle Throttle Angle Too High Is it idling high? If so, check the ISC motor, if not then probably the TPS is bad.
PAUL T
P085 - Idle Throttle Angle Too High This is usually caused by deposits in the throttle body. I would clean out the throttle body good and it should take care of the problem. Other things to check are: 1. Check for other throttle position sensor codes 2. A loose fitting air duct or air cleaner may cause debris to enter the throttle body. 3. Check to see if the ISC motor can retract far enough to close the throttle position switch. 4. Check proper operation of the ISC motor. This comes right out of my manual. Good Luck!
