sethc1020
Hello, I have a 2008 CTS without navigation. From time to time my radio and ac controls will randomly go black and stop working. Sometimes they will come right back on and other times they will stay off for a day or so then randomly come back on. It started with just the radio but now its the entire panel but the clock, traction control and hazards still work. Now they have all been off for more than a week. I cannot get it to record CDs either, when I push record it looks like its working but then says something about not being able access the HDD while initializing. It also seems like it is losing power or the memory isn't working when the car is off because sometimes when I start it the CD will start at the beginning and not where it left off. I love the car but these Radio/AC Control issues are driving me crazy. Any info will help. Thanks
MAC
I did some research on this topic. From what I saw, it appears that intermittent radio and/or loss of navigation indicates a problem with the radio or a problem with one of the pins at the harness. I will see if I can find it and post either a link or quote it. But one person said that it was narrowed down to a faulty pin at the harness connection. sethc1020
Yep its the radio, took it to the dealership and $150 later they tell me the raido is not working and another $500 for a new one including installation. Anyone know if I bought a used one will I have to take it to the dealership to unlock it or is there a way to get the codes myself?
MAC
I'm not speaking from personal experience; however, from what I have read, you would have to take it to a dealership for ECM programming, so it will recognize the replacement radio.
