Casey
981Cadillac, ,Model Coupe Deville Rebuilding a 1981 368 4-6-8 engine. The Cad manual states that the 7/16 rocker arm bolts are torqued to 70 ft. lbs.. This is incorrect. The bolts are 5/16, two lengths, 2 1/4 and 4 1/4 inches. The Cad manuals, Chilton, MotorTrend, Mitchell, all copied the incorrect spec. Anyone know what the correct torque is, 22, 25, or 30 ft. lbs.?? Thanks, Casey
KevinW
That 70 ft. lbs. specification is for the 1968-1980 engines; I guess it wasn't updated for the new design. My '81 manual lists the same figure. BTW, did you find any abnormal wear? ___________________________________________________
