kobalt
Hello, I have an ocasional "service stabiliy system" message pop-up. A quick scan revealed: DTC C1286 Steering/Lateral Accelerometer Sensor Bias Malfunction DTC C1287 Steering Sensor Rate Malfunction I just replaced my failing driver's side wheel hub and thought it would solve the problem. The message has returned, however. Any ideas what these codes mean and what needs to be fixed? Thank you in advance!
kobalt
I'll bump my post - perhaps someone out there can help me before I have to go to the dreadful dealer. Once again folks, any info on the codes above would be greatly appreciated - thank you once again.

maydog
I get the bias circuit error sometimes. I figure I may have some sort of short. The wheel hub has nothing to do with that code. The lateral rate sensor is attached to the frame near the axis of the rear wheels and the centerline of the car. It uses a 5 volt signal as the bias and senses deviations from that.
