mhinchley Posted February 26, 2006 Report Share Posted February 26, 2006 Yep.........1mm = 0.03937 in Former set up machinist at Federal Mogul Powertrain Division for 5.5 years. One word of note, Fed Mogul Occasionally made oversized pistons due to errors in machining engine blocks/inserts so Ford and GM did not have to scrap otherwise good blocks/inserts. Usually only went to a maximum of .030mm though if I remember correctly, so it was minute really but the pistons specs only allow for an average of +/-.01mm Some tolerances bigger, some smaller..........and I can't remember exactly what the Northstar tolerance was normally. I'm thinking it was +/-.0065mm if I remember correctly. Oh yes, they were all OEM pistons. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
