High Sulphur gasoline

Recommended Posts

Associated Press is reporting that Shell and Texaco stations in New Orleans, Miami, Tampa, Sarasota and Fort Lauderdale have stopped selling (as of Friday, May 28)gasoline that has a "high sulphur" content.

It is reported the gasoline came from Motiva Enterprises refinery in Norco, LA. The higher than normal sulphur may corrode electrical contact material.

If I had purchased Shell or Texaco gas in those cities, I would hang on to the receipt for a few months in case a problem develops down the line.

On May 30, the local (Atlanta) ABC TV affiliate carried a piece reporting that some off-brand gasoline stations continue to sell this "suspect" gasoline in the southeast. Marathon was the only name mentioned in the report.
