sts_driver
I was just wondering if anyone would be able to tell me if a factory option gps from a 2003 STS, can fit in a 98 STS they look like they have the same setup inside, anyone ever try this or no anyone that tryed it? JimD
I have not heard of anyone doing that. There is a lot of hardware and wiring involved with the OEM setup. A top of the line TomTom would be much less expensive as well as more flexible method for GPS. Jim Drive your car. Use your cell phone. CHOOSE ONE ! OynxSTS
Yes this can be done, but a bunch of the wires need to be swapped... If you just plug it in it WON'T work. Gm "nicely" picked a ground wire in the 98 cars to be "hot" in the 2002 and newer cars and you will blow a fuse or fry your BCM. Link to all of the instuctions here This is risky and does require Tech II programming at the dealer and splicing into the ECM harness to collect a vehcle speed signal. But it has been done.
