transmission jacks - worth the $?

Looking for some input from the folks who have dropped the cradle on a northstar without the benefit of a lift.

My current plan (per other users threads) is to use 2 floor jacks to roll the connected engine & tranny out to be Tserted.

Anyone done it this way? Harbor freight sells a transmission jack for $100 (800lb) or $200 (2000lb) that looks useful. Would the 800lb jack have enough lift and leverage to hold both the engine and transmission?

I know some folks have used 4x4 blocks to support the cradle, but how did you get it out from under the car?

I always get into trouble wandering around harbor freight...
