help on 94 STS alternator removal

Yeah Northstar it's probably the regulator. I did notice about 100,000 kms ago that the lights would flicker when there was a heavy electrical load placed on it, but no one could find anything wrong with it. I had just had it at a garage for a spring maintainance package and they load tested it and it came back fine. One week later and I'm on my garage floor and taking this bad boy out of the car. So, you never know when it'll go, although it was squeeling for about a month before it went and then 4 days before I got the 'battery no charge' and 'P110' code it had been making a grinding noise.

I dropped it off this morning to the starter/alternator repair guy and the first thing he said was "where's the fins on this puppy?" I guess at one time something had dropped something on the alternator when the engine was running and the cooling fins had chipped off. No worries, he'll fix it right up and put a full year's warranty on it also he said. Wow, better than a GM warranty,

Gonna pick it up at noon and install it tonight. Total cost $100 Cdn.

Lovin' it so far.
