GMAC Driving Test

Recommended Posts

At GMAC Insurance, we're more than just an insurance company - we're here to keep people's lives moving. One way we do this is by educating people on the rules of the road, empowering them to become safer, better drivers. Hopefully they'll never need to use our services, but we're always here to help if they do.

With this focus on driver education in mind, we set out to gauge the current knowledge of the American public with the second annual GMAC Insurance National Drivers Test. Shockingly, 1 in 11 licensed drivers would fail a written drivers test if taken again today.

Now, you can take the test yourself and see how you measure up. Answer the following 20 questions taken from written state drivers tests, and you will be given your score at the end. Good luck!

Feel free to post your score as a reply :P

Ok, Ok, Ok. The only reason I got 90 was the question with the cop with the stop sign. I had a beer going and had to book it.

I took this test last year and I scored 100% on the test. They didn't ask me to take the test this year. Last year, New Jersey was at the bottom of the list, this year, they moved up to third place from the bottom (tied for 3rd). The states of Washington and Oregon are still at the top of the list, same as last year.

If you really want to make people safe drivers again then simply remove all the safety features from cars. No more seat belts, ABS brakes, traction control, air bags or stability control. No more anything. You'll see how quickly people will slow down and once again learn to drive like "normal" humans.

90, missed the one about the pedistrians at a crosswalk thing. I think that varies by state anyway.

The Green's Machines

1998 Deville - high mileage, keeps on going, custom cat-back exhaust

2003 Seville - stock low mileage goodness!

2004 Grand Prix GTP CompG - Smaller supercharger pulley, Ported Exhaust Manifolds, Dyno tune, etc

1998 Firebird Formula - 408 LQ9 Stroker motor swap and all sorts of go fast stuff

100% !?

Most folks that drive with me are amazed that I had not had a ticket in 30-years or so. I think its called "Situational Awareness" by some and "blind luck" by others.

I believe they have differant test questions available.

Add power to leave problems behind. Most braking is just - poor planning.

95

Missed #14 (An orange and red sign of this shape means). Easy for me to miss since all the slow movers around here are road contruction vehicles. Anyone who has ever driven the section of 81 from Syracuse to Harrisburg, Pa. on a frequent basis knows what I'm talking about. ;)

I got 95%. I missed the one about the dust storm. We do not get dust storms here in NJ, so I let my fog knowledge help me. I answered putting on the parking lights. I assumed that putting the headlights on would have the light reflect back at you, just like in fog. I was wrong.
