JimD
The disqualifier is I have no experience with your engine. My memory of carbs and distributors is fading fast. But what you describe would lead me to suspect the accelerator pump in the carb as a first item to eliminate. Float level and needle valves are the next logical suspects. After all that is checked and confirmed would be the total advance mechanism in the distributor; as in initial timing, vacuum advance, and centrifigal advance weights and springs for freedom of movement. BodybyFisher
In your carburator is an accelerator pump. Sometimes they have a rubber plunger and sometimes a leather plunger. When that plunger goes bad, you don't get the SHOT of gas you need and you BOG... Replace the accelerator pump it comes in a carburator rebuilding kit. WarrenJ
We are showing our age guys.. Yes we are. But as we approach that time when we will be able to hide our own Easter eggs, let's not overlook the possibility of a vacuum leak. It's just something to consider even though I'd be inclined to go with the accelerator pump. BTW, those '79s really hauled a$$. Regards, Warren There is no means of avoiding the final collapse of a boom brought about by credit expansion. The alternative is only whether the crisis should come sooner as the result of a voluntary abandonment of further credit expansion, or later as a final and total catastrophe of the currency system involved. - Ludwig von Mises
