Speed limited to 145. Help?

Started the car up the other day and everything seemed fine. Ran pretty good, no Service Engine or any other warning displays however after driving for a few minutes I received a "SPEED LIMITED TO 145" warning message...

No accompanying errors, simply that one.

Showed up each time I drove the car last night (several times with rests in between)

After running a diagnostic this morning I get the following current codes:

C1722 - Left Rear Damper Actuator Open Circuit

C1760 - Left Front Position Sensor Input Fault

Could these be causing this speed limitation? Has anyone else run in to similar problems?

What can I expect to be the culprit, and what exactly do those error codes mean?

Thanks

Yes, if the T/C or the RSS detect a fault, speed will be limited, though 145 is not much of a "limit".

I think the 145 is km as that would be 90 MPH which is what the system limits the speed to when a fault is detected.

Sounds like a loose wire or connection. Also check the position sensor for sticking. If the sensor isn't swiveling and compressing properly I would imagine it could cause the problem(s) you're describing. Happy Holidays! :D

  • 4 weeks later...

Thanks for the info guys...

It's the second week of January and the message is always there, now.

Hasn't seem to have affected the car (other than maxing out at 145KM), so I hadn't really gotten it looked into as of yet.

Before I take it in next week though, I was hoping someone could give me a bit more insight, if it isn't what Regis described.

What exactly do the codes mean?
