tom karen
We have gotten so much useful info from Caddyinfo. We are sure others have too. Had been a contributor but now is the time to do so again. We all need to support this site. So lets all go to "My Controls" and become a Contributing Member. BodybyFisher
Not to hijack this thread, but for the record, all of the statements related to becoming Caddyinfo contributors are unsolicited. I have never met Bruce, but my impression is that he is too nice of a guy to solicit contributors. Other sites have pop ups and delay tactics that go away when you contribute. Something tells me that this new board may have similar features. I for one, while I welcome our new sponsors would like to minimize the need to have a laundry list of advertisers like another site that comes to mind. One of the the nice things about this site to me is that there is no controlling undercurrent of advertisers. Try going to that 'oil site' and saying something negative related to Amsoil and see how long you last...we want objectivity folks... Not that I think that Bruce would intentionally compromise the boards objectivity. While I post quite a bit, I am not part of Caddyinfo's administration. I saw a strong outpouring of worry, concern and members with the shakes when this site went down for 3 days. What that meant to me was that this site means a lot to a lot of people, why not support something you enjoy so much? I also looked at the Invision site and saw how expensive it is to maintain this site at a high level. Not to mention what it must cost to have a tech support person step in an repair things, etc... What highlighted the low member contribution to me, was this new board's ability to sort member's by 'contributing'. NOT to embarrass anyone, but when this new board opened we only had 23 contributing members two of which were me!, we are now up to 27 contributing members, whopptydo (but thanks to the new contributors)! Even more upsetting to me, is the LACK of response to these threads, by new contributors. We are talking about $20, 8 gallons of gas, a good bottle of wine, a cheap bottle of champagne, a tip to your trash men or stabilizer bar bushings! I find it to be amazing that we are driving Cadillacs and we only have 27 contributing members. I know this is the holiday season, and you like me may be short, but committing to contributing in the future would be nice. Maybe that is why these sites end up with popups and political undercurrents.. A real smack in the mouth here would be for us to get K&N as an advertiser try saying something negative about K&N then... Enough of the rant, I hope that no one is offended, but quite honestly, for all of the supposed LOVE of this site, quite frankly, it doesn't show. JasonA
Thanks for the reminders to re-contribute. A few years ago, I sent Bruce and undisclosed amount of money, and he said he'd make me a "Contributing Member" for an undisclosed number of years, but based on what I know about Bruce, he'd never take that title away, and would never ask for a penny. When I get back home from Christmas vacation, I too, will be making another donation to this site. It's too valuable as-is to let it get taken over by commericals.
