epricedright
Hi Matt, We've been wondering how Zac is doing. Any luck getting him to eat regularly? Did you ever look into those websites my wife referred you to and has your vet heard of them? I'd like to buy you a bottle of that if you think it would help...it's all natural stuff, so I'm guessing it couldn't hurt. Let me know if you'd like to try it out and I'll get an order in for you right away. We've been praying for you two. Take care, Kim Here are those websites again in case you didn't see them before the hack: http://dogcancer.net/dog_cancer_stories.htm http://alohamedicinals.com/pet.htm
Matt
Hi All. I was playing with the new board thanks to Bruce and found your post. Thanks so much for asking about Zac. With all thats been going on I felt very lost with out the board. Not only does the board help me with my car but the board helps me get through other tough life events. Your all great for putting up with me. Kim as soon as you sent me the web site info I went to them and booked marked them so I would have them. My vet and I went over them, she has heard of this before. With Zac it's a double wammie, Cancer and comprimised kidneys. The best thing for her is the Hill's Prescription Diet K/D can food. She, Zac did not like it so I have to add some water and mix it into a soup then warm it in the nuker. Then I put it in a small 7-Up like bottle so I can pour it down her throat. ( Real Fun) Poor dog. Her water is rationed and her meals need to be small and many per day. We had to experiment with a few special diets for her but she could not hold any thing down. She is doing good with the K/D though. Its only been two days so I hope it will agree wtih her. I just sat with my boss at work today and explained to him what is going on and now have the Ok to take her with me so I can care for her all day wile working. I have my own shop somewhat isolated from the rest of the company so this will work out fine. My vet says the not eating will bring her down so fast but if I can build her up she will do much better. She is in no pain, she is just very thin, it's scary to look at. I may be able to build her up a bit, I hope so. My vet has me scared to death, she says to be prepaired for the worst every minute. I have not slept or had a good meal in 6 days now. I'm so tired, so tired. I used to take Zac to work with me all the time before the big corporation bought out the Ma and Pa business we used to be. When I told Zac she was going to work with me in the morning she went crazy with delight. That was good to see. Again thanks to those who PM'ed me. I have everything on paper. I hope I can deal with all of this. Thanks for the offers to talk, I'm trying to stay strong. My mind is at ease a bit now that I can keep an eye on her 24/7 Thanks Guys and thanks to your familys for helping. I hope this pic comes out Ok. This is Zac last Summer. My heart is broken by the way she looks now, it happened so fast. It hurts so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm sorry the system will not let me add Her Picture. I really wanted to show her off. epricedright
That's great you can keep an eye on Zac while at work! Just curious, does your vet feel the K-9 Immunity will hurt Zac's kidneys or not mix well with the Hill's diet. I was under the impression the K-9 Immunity was an anti-cancer diet supplement. I'm sure you and your vet knows what's best for Zac. I hope he's not advising using it due to it being a non-prescription supplement. Please check those sites out and read what they have to say. My feeling is Zac needs something to help fight the cancer. Don't give up hope! Please keep us posted with Zac's progress. Take care Matt and try to get some rest! Matt
I have just sent an emergency E-MAil to my vet on this subject. I requested a conversation again Wednesday on this. I instructed that I wish to order the product through her pratice for the discount. I will Red UPS if I have to. I will keep you informed. Thanks... epricedright
Matt, If you decide to try it, please let me buy the first bottle for you. I am sure your vet expenses have taken a toll on you. It would make me feel really good if I could help you and Zac in this way. PM your address and I'll Red Label a bottle out to you right away. If you'd like to order it through your vet, give me their phone number, and I can give them my cc over the phone.
caddypete
That is really cool of your employer allowing you to bring Zac to work. It is nice to know you get to spend more time with Zac then you would normally. Praying for the both of you.
Matt
I looked over the diet that is given. What if she has no interest in this diet , I know whe will not eat it on her own. The other thing is that her kidney was comprimised, she had bad levels of toxons in her blood at first blood test. Her kidney was not doing a good job of cleaning her system. She was then put on meds to help her kidney with a slight infection. Then at the next ultra sound they found her kidney responded well and the condition had lessened. But the vet was concerned about having to much protein in her diet that would put a strain on her kidneys. What is confusing is that she offered a diet plan from a medical society that contained lots of rice and grain foods. When I read the articles from the web sites you had sent they said to stay away from rice and grain foods. Well I just left a message with the vets answering service for her to call me. I will talk to her right away and get back to you. Thanks for your kind offer on the meds. Yes the bills have left me next to broke, I have spared nothing on her care. epricedright
Regarding her diet, I'm sure knowing Zac's condition, your vet would know best...sounds confusing though. If your're getting her to eat now, then that's a good thing. With your vets ok, maybe try that diet out, If Zac doesn't eat, then maybe try it again once she starts the Immunity Supplements. Did you see the capsules from Costco that dogs really go for...Fish Oil capsules I believe. If you decide to try the supplements, call me on my cell and you can give me your address then, as I'm gonna be away from my PC for awhile, but we need to get those supplements on their way, so call me. I'm a leave you my cell # in a PM.

Matt
Hi Everyone. I have a wonderful update on my dog Zac. You all remember things were not looking to good a few weeks back but after another ultra sound and $675.00 more today the report was very good on her kidneys. The Hill's K/d diet can food is the main reason for the better kidneys. Now the Cancer is something we can not do much about, it's a shame for people and animals in todays age nothing still has been found to ward off this killing disease. BUT I must tell you, Zac (my dog) and I had help from a wonderful couple"epricedright and Wife" new of a product to help boost the imune system tremendousley. Out of the goodness of there hearts they purchased the product and sent it RED UPS to me. This was a costly gift from them that left me speechless. I spoke to the doctor that is responcible for these pills and we talked for an hour about his studys of this product and his pratice. I have been giving my dog 4 a day for 8 days now and after 32 of them " I see a BIG change in her". I have to remember things can change in a minute, but for now she is eating almost 2 cans a day as compared to her not wanting to eat anything and not being able to keep anything down. Granted I must still feed her with a spoon, it started out 7 times a day and is now down to 4 times a day, she will not eat on her own for some reason but she does not fight me any longer and keeps it down. About one month ago I bought one of those very large marrow filled bones but she would not go near it or any biscuits but last night and today she is attacking them. Today we went for a car ride and I stoped for a burger and for the first time in a month she ate some of the burger with me. She has that gallop in her step again and will not leave me alone inside or out side. I can trust her with water again because she is not drowning herself any more. Its been a strugle for her and I and i'm tired to all heck from all the feedings and care and work but the change is wonderfull. I do not quite understand it but every day is a gift and a blessing. There is also the other blessing, " The blessing that there are people out there like epricedright and his wife". THANK YOU KIM for helping and understanding the cost of all this. The pills you bought for us may be the reason my dog is doing better. Thanks and have a Healthy and Happy New Year. Matt and Zac

epricedright
Hi Matt, Now that's the news we were looking for! We hadn't heard from you lately, so we were starting to fear the worst. We are so glad to hear the K-9 Immunity Supplements are helping and that Zac is better. Keep your hopes up those pills will help get rid of the cancer all together. Their studies indicated a 70% success rate if I'm not mistaken. Boy, they weren't kidding when they said you'd see a marked improvement in 7-10 days...that's just amazing! If we had only known about K-9 Immunity 6 weeks ago, huh. Well great job Matt taking such great care of Zac. Zac is lucky to have you! Hoping you and Zac have a Wonderful, Healthy & Happy New Year! Matt
Yes this is a wonderful improvement. I am shocked at all of this.I am doing all I can and will keep doing all I can. I just wish that when I first mentioned Zacs shivering 4 months ago to my vet that we would have picked up on the problem. I could have had a bigger jump on helping her before she got so very thin. I got her to eat 1 3/4 cans of food today, we will shoot for 2 cans on Saturday. I hope everyone has a great New Years and please be safe if out Saturday night. See you then. JohnnyG
I hope Zac is doing well. Having lost a dog to kidney failure, I can tell you it's rough to say the least. Its also a tremendous gesture by edpricedright to give you the help that he has, given in the true spirit of giving. Realizing from this series of posts that there are a lot of dog and cat lovers on this board, I thought I'd share a story that I came across yesterday. It's probably old news by now, but once again, in keeping with the spirit of helpfulness that is embodied by this board, I'll post it anyway. Its about the Diamond dog food recall. It seems that Diamond has produced and sold some dog food in 23 states that has led to the death of 23 animals. A "wide net recall" has been issued by the company to deal with this incident, and food bearing the date codes of March 1, 2007 through June 11, 2007 has been included in the recall. The food is also marketed under the "Country Value" and "Professional" brand names. The food contains a fungus which produces "aflatoxin". Aflatoxin poisoning causes sluggishness, lack of appetite, and in severe cases vomiting, fever, and jaundice. It can also cause severe liver damage and death. This recall also applies to cat food produced by that company bearing the above date codes. I had a bag of Diamond Adult Premium bearing those date codes and called the place of purchase. They were aware of the recall and offered to refund my money, even without a receipt, saying that they could tell if the food was purchased there. My dog has shown no ill effects from eating the food, but he is a smaller Pomeranian and eats very little dry food. As far as kidney failure is concerned, it is important to keep the protien content in the diet as low as possible...no table scraps. I have other insights to offer on losing a pet, but will reserve them until asked or PM'd, until then, I hope this helps someone. Never underestimate the amount of a persons greed. Matt
Hi JohnnyG, Thanks for the wishes for Zac. I am doing all that I can for her and she is fighting pretty hard. She has been looking better and better the last few days, it's just wonderful. Every day now is a gift. I had heard about the food recall, I can't emagine that happening to my dog Zac. I feel bad for those pets and there owners affected by this. I hope your dog is is ok. We have beem useing Hill's Prescription Diet, K/d can food, 2 cans a day now but still no weight gain for Zac yet. I need to get weight on her but do not know how. You sure are correct about epricedright, a good heart for sure. That first bottle of K9-Immunity helped so much I just cant tell ya all. Things have been so tough money wise with all this. I never thought to look into insurance when Zac was a pup, I should have because I'm neer broke now. LOL . Have a good New Year... Matt
Marika
One of my cats had developed Feline Urinary Tract Disorder, he couldn't urinate. When I took him to the vet, they kept him overnight and ran tests. The next day when I picked him up and paid the $300 bill, the vet told me I should try Hill's Science Diet for the cat. He said to start the cat on Science Diet for Seniors and then IF the urinary problem continued I could switch to prescription Science Diet. Well, so far, so good. The cat is urinating normally and he's not thrown up once on the Science Diet food. He used to throw up from all the other brands all the time. Science Diet is a bit more expensive than regular cat food but it's worth it for peace of mind and knowing that my cat is feeling better, looking better, losing a little weight and not being uncomfortable and throwing up. So far I have no complaints about Science Diet. I feed my cats (both eat the science diet although only one really needs it) the chicken variety. It doesn't even smell like "cat food", it smells like real chicken. For those of you who don't know, cat food has a very strong chemical odor that's added to the food, probably to mask the fact that they use rotten meat to manufacture it and also because the odor was found to attract a cat to the food. Science diet doesn't have that strong odor, only the odor of real chicken. Just my 2 cents. Can't add a picture of my two cats. Sorry. If you really want to make people safe drivers again then simply remove all the safety features from cars. No more seat belts, ABS brakes, traction control, air bags or stability control. No more anything. You'll see how quickly people will slow down and once again learn to drive like "normal" humans.

Matt
Hi Marika, I know that is a problem with cats. I have many friends who have gone through the same thing. The Hill's food is very good. It has been been used to treat many animals with problems. I know about the cost, It's costing me $3.00 a can from my vet. I can't get it any ware else. I now have Zac up to almost 3 cans a day now , better she eats and I have less money for me. I found a place on line to get it at $1.65 a can but after you add the shipping it's back to $3.00 a can. I wish I could find it cheeper. Keep your eyes open for me if you would for a deal on Hill's Prescription Diet K/d can dog food. I found a place called rxpetfood.com, they have good price per case but I could not get the girl there to understand that 2nd day UPS is not the same as standard standard 5 to 7 day UPS. By the time they added on the 2nd day the price was back to 3 bucks a can. I forget ware they are, I may go at it again with them unless I can find someware else to look. I love the pics of your cats. I especially like Friday. His face is very defined, he reminds me very much of a lion. I hope all turns out well for your kitty. Take care. Matt
I just wanted to say hi to everyone. I hope all are getting along well in this new year. There has been lots of interesting reading on the board, I found the VATS Key System very interesting. I have been under the weather for a few days now and lost a few days of work. My girlfriend has been away visiting friends for a few days so its been just my dog Zac and I taking care of things at home. There have been a few bad things lately but I will not talk about the good things like my Seville and ruin even that. The struggle to take care of Zac goes on. It is a lot of work, I'm exhausted but I would do it for years if only Zac could hang on with comfort. I do not know if Zacs cancer is changing but she has put on a pound of body weight and acts pretty good at times. We have new medicine for her hips and I hope it helps that to feel better for her as well. I just learned how to make bigger pics with a smaller file size so this is a repost but I deleated the other one so as not to take up room on the board. I just love to show off Zac. I have been proud of her for 12 1/2 years now. So everybody take care, it's time for more Nyquil and rest. By all. Matt
