Webmast84
Last night I put in a K&N Stock air replacement filter. I believe it was the 33-2086. I dunno if it's my rodding around that might have caused it but my RPMs are up. Where I would normally be 2,000RPM at 60MPH I am not 2,750RPM for 60MPH (In 4th gear). I'm tempted to put my standard FRAM filter back in to see if it makes a different. Goooooooodbye good gas mileage.
stsjoe
Sounds like it isn't shifting out of 3rd, have you tried running up through the gears manually to be sure?
Webmast84
Yeah, it coasts easier in 4th gear. I can definitely tell a different between 3rd and 4th gear as far as the ride goes. But the RPMs in 3rd and 4th gear did seem to be the same....
Webmast84
I forgot to mention that when I noticed the RPMs was when the traction control came on last night because it was raining on and off and it slipped a few times. stsjoe
Simple check, put the old one back in at 2750 in fourth my 96 is at 80 mph. Double checked it coming home per your post Joe
Webmast84
I haven't tried the old FRAM air filter yet. But tonight when I test the RPMs between 3rd and 4th they both had the same. It's going to be really weird if the problem is caused by the air filter when I pop it in tomorrow before I go to work.
