I went into a Compusa and picked up some needed items today. I just installed a new dvdrw and playin with it I just crossflashed the drive it was one of those cheapie hival ones on special but it was a benq 1640 rebaged so it's a 1640 now after some tweaks and I upgraded some system drivers I hope I don't crash and have to do a clean install of windows so far so good This sys has been doing good for about a yr I hate to do clean installs of operating sys. But thats the best way to do them I need to back up this box so I don't have to hunt all the software I added during the year Anyone else do this crap

I spent all day today changing around my home theatre room.

Out went my 6 yr old 50" JVC D Series crt projector tv, to the basement.

In came a PT5014 Panasonic LCD tv, with a PVR HD box, dvd recorder, 1000w receiver,

Angstrom speakers, Cerwin powered sub.

Hardwood floors and heavy guage wires are a challenge ... I basically ran everything through the basement and up through the floor to the speakers.

Given the right video source of 1080i, the clarity on this Panasonic LCD is truly breathtaking ... easily the deepest picture I've seen, and I work with HDTV everyday.

Talking about Northstar engineering woes ... how about a tv lamp in your LCD or DLP projection set that is rated for 10000 hrs, but usually go after about 3000 hrs?

My cost is $325 for a Panasonic lamp, and with kids, you may replace it every 2 years.

Warranty covers 1 year.

The HDTV market is very intense .... plasma, crt, lcd flat, lcd or dlp projection ... something new seemingly every week.

Like computers, technology is constantly evolving on hdtv, and you're going to pay big $$ to have the newest and latest toy.
