I started my car today in -8c weather and had no blower motor. On the way home I pressed the rec. button and the blower came on for a minute then I heard a thump under the dash and the blower stopped. I then could smell burning (electrical) ? Has anyone had to replace the ACM (programmer) ? could the programmer just give up the ghost like that, can I sad.gif test the motor by putting 12v to the control connector B( gray wire) Thanks

I would suspect the blower long before the ACM. The ACM is much more relaible and I don't believe it has any moving parts to "thump". That sounds like the cage came off the shaft or broke under centrifical force.

I agree with Ranger. Being you smelled wires burning earlier, you should be able to get your nose close to the blower and if it smells burnt, then that's probably your problem. The thump may have been your blower cage coming off then shorting out your blower motor.

Larry

You were correct the blower motor was shot. I blew the weekend putting in the new and improved one ha ha. I checked the voltage at the center wire with the motor still in place and found the voltage good for speed up and down. Hi speed 2-2.5v low speed 9.2- 11v Thanks
