winterset
I searched/read thru previous posts, and I still don't know/understand. I am not having any problems with my power strearing, BUT: When I checked the fluid level the other day, I noticed the fluid was brownish red. I am not sure if it was clear, or Dextron III red. I never had it changed, and I plan on using the wife's turkey baster to suck it out & replace. What should I use clear powerstearing fluid or Dextron III? How often should power strearing fluid be replaced. it's been in there since 8/96, and 95k
KHE
I would use power steering fluid as specified in your owner's manual. I don't think changing the power steering fluid is listed on the maintenance schedule - some change it, others don't. In you case, if you suspect it may have been contaminated with trans. fluid, it wouldn't hurt to change it. JimD
I use and recommend GM part #89020661 power steering fluid. It's your basic mineral oil with an anti-foaming agent. A bit pricey.
