wheel lug spacing

I have some aftermarket wheels that have a dual bolt pattern. they are 5/4.25 and 5/4.5. they are on a dodge intepid now. i have a set of blizzak tires i want to put on and was considering moving the wheels to my 96 STS. i may even move the wheels from car to car depending on my mood. i am not sure if the bolt pattern is right or if there might be a hub opening issue. any idea on how to proceed? the dodge has fairly new a/s tires but i would really like to use the blizzaks on at least 1 car. this mounting/dismounting process is a pain. i was thinking of putting the a/s tires on the orignial dodge rims i have so that might help.

For what it's worth, neither of those bolt patterns are correct for a FWD Cadillac. The Cadillac has a 5/115mm bolt pattern. That equals exactly 4.52755906 inches. The Cadillac has a LARGER bolt pattern than the Dodge does. If you put the Dodge wheels on the Cadillac, and tighten them down, you will either damage the Dodge wheels or the lug studs in your Cadillac wheel bearings will HAVE to "lean in" to accomodate the smaller bolt circle.

How much will they have to LEAN IN to accomodate the smaller Dodge wheels? Well, by my calculations, almost 1.6 degrees. Is that "slight"? To my eyes, you wouldn't even see it probably. Will it do damage to the hub or lugs (or wheels) over time, or immediately? I don't know.

I wouldn't do it.

that figures. I must have been a fool to think GM and Dodge would actually interchange. nothing GM does makes my life easier. i might as well put the blizzaks on the stock dodge rims. that will work best anyway since my 16 yr old will be driving the dodge and needs all the help she can get.

Sounds like GM's non-interchangability worked out for the best after all...

You say they're aftermarket wheels that fit the Dodge. Find some aftermarket wheels that fit GM and you'll be in business. Or better yet, find a set of FWD GM wheels in a salvage yard. Speaking of GM interchangeability, almost every single FWD GM wheel interchanges with other FWD GM platforms.

If you have the wheels, why not try and mount one. You will know right away if it will work. Jack up a wheel, remove it, place the aftermarket wheel on, and do a visual. Should be pretty obvious right away. Won't take you long either.

Folks,

I would ask Cardio-Doc to comment on this issue.

IMHO

Add power to leave problems behind. Most braking is just - poor planning.
