Jason15036
Hey guys to make a long story short the guy I bought the car from did a brake job before I bought it well come to find the bolt for the caliper bracket came out. This is not the caliper bolt but the bracket the caliper bolts too. So this little problem I didnt realize until it got bad enough that I couldn't go in reverse because of the brake caliper and bracket being thrown around and being wedge because of the one bolt holding it. So I buy the bolt from Cadilac and put it in and drove around with horriable shaking, which I thought was the motor mounts, but it is the left brake hanging up prolly because something got bent when it was getting thrown around with one bolt holding it. So I put it in my garage tonight jacked it up took both wheels of and cranked it, put it in gear, and sure enough it spins and catches pretty good in spots, which makes the motor jerk around a lot. So my question is what do you think got screwed up, is it the brake caliper bracket, brake caliper, or rotor. I was thinking maybe it was the brake calilper bracket and rotor. I could swap parts from side to side and see what moves the symptoms, but thats a lot of work. What do you guys think it is. Also what is the proffesional name for the bracket that the caliper bolts to. Thanks for the help, Jason

Jason15036
no, you could definatley see and hear the rubbing on the left side and when I removed the brake adn let it spin freely, it worked smooth and free.
JimD
The traction control had to be confused with both drive wheels off the ground. The brake piece you asked about is commonly called the caliper bracket, but the GM parts catalog might refer to a different name. Jim Drive your car. Use your cell phone. CHOOSE ONE !
